Practice Support
Students are encouraged to have a practice buddy—another student of similar age and level to check in with daily for accountability.
If your child is struggling with consistent practice, I can help connect them with a practice teacher for daily guidance. Advanced students interested in becoming practice teachers are encouraged to inquire about this paid opportunity.
RCM Exams
Royal Conservatory of Music exams are encouraged. We will work together to plan an exam timeline appropriate for each student’s level and goals.
Festivals & Competitions
Participation in music festivals is highly recommended to support musical growth and performance skills. Suggested festivals include:
BCCM Festival (July)
Chilliwack Music Festival (March)
Canadian Music Competition (May)
Kiwanis Festival (April)
We will work with each student to ensure they are prepared to perform and compete at their current level.
Performance Classes / Masterclasses
$40 per class (minimum 4 classes)
Monthly performance classes are an essential part of the studio curriculum, providing students with regular opportunities to develop confidence, stage presence, and artistic expression in a supportive and encouraging environment. Each class includes a lecture on an important pianistic topic—such as tone production, technique, rhythm, practice strategies, or musical interpretation—followed by student performances and guided observation of their peers.
To encourage consistent musical growth and performance experience, students are required to attend a minimum of four performance classes per academic year. Additional classes beyond the required four are highly encouraged and may be attended at no extra cost. These extra opportunities are considered a valuable bonus and an excellent way for students to further develop their musicianship and performance skills.
