Rachel Wang

Rachel Wang is a 12-year-old pianist who approaches music with genuine passion, dedication, and a deep love of learning. She began piano studies at the age of three and is currently studying under the guidance of her teacher, Ian Parker. Over the years, Rachel has had the privilege of participating in a variety of local, national, and international piano competitions and performances, where she has been fortunate to receive numerous awards, distinctions, and encouragement along the way. Some of her memorable experiences include receiving First Prize at the Franz Liszt International Youth Piano Competition and the Overall Grand Prize at the Vancouver International Music Competition, where she had the honor of performing at the Gala Concert held at the Vancouver Playhouse. Rachel was also grateful to be the youngest finalist in the World Music International Competition and to receive Third Prize at the International Piano Competition Taunus Germany. In both 2025 and 2026, she was honored to represent CDMF in the Provincial Excellence Piano Category at the BC Provincial Music Festival.

In 2026, Rachel also received several First Place and Class Winner awards at the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival and CDMF, as well as First Place in the Age12 & up ; Under Piano Group at the Pacific Youth Music Festival. Additionally, Rachel has been selected to participate in the Preliminary Round of the Gina Bachauer International Junior Piano Competition 2026. Rachel values opportunities to share music within the community and has participated in numerous charitable and community events over the years.

Among them, she has appeared as a guest pianist at a Fraser Lions Club concert for seniors and at the 6th Annual “Beat Goes On” Charity Gala in support of the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta. Outside of music, Rachel enjoys reading and playing badminton. She is thankful for the support of her teachers, family, and community, and hopes to continue learning, growing, and sharing her love of music with others.
