Matthew Cheung began his piano journey at the age of 10 and has since distinguished himself as an accomplished young pianist. His recent achievements include:

  • 2024 Canada West Performing Arts Festival (17 & Under Piano) – 1st Place

  • 2024 Performing Arts BC (Provincial Excellence Piano) – 1st Place

  • 2024 Licentiate Diploma (LRCM) in Piano Performance – Gold Medal

  • 2024 Licentiate Diploma (LRCM) in Piano Performance – First Class Honours with Distinction

  • 2024 Vancouver Student Performers’ Guild Festival – Senior Division Scholarship

  • 2023 Vancouver International Music Competition (Young Artists Category) – Silver Medal

  • 2023 Steinway Piano Competition – Gold Medal

  • 2023 Performing Arts BC (Senior Piano) – 1st Place

  • 2023 BCRMTA Canada Music Week Festival (Senior Division) – 1st Place & Scholarship

Beyond his passion for music, Matthew has a keen interest in the sciences. In his free time, he enjoys reading, exploring new cuisines, and playing badminton.
